After a very long day of school, Hayven bolted off the campus grounds as soon as she could to go rent some dvd's. She planned on pushing off most of her homework, as it was Friday night. There was always Sunday morning after all.
She returned and put her messenger bag on her bed and pulled out two thriller movies, both supposedly great slasher films. She made her way out of the bedroom and flipped through both titles, determining which one she would start off with. Since it was quiet, she assumed her roommates were gone doing typical Friday night things. She stopped in the kitchen they shared and placed a bag of popcorn into the microwave, still reading the cover and backs of both films.
One seemed almost Michael Meyers like, the other seemed like a combination of The Shinning and Damien. Hayven mused over both titles, then decided the Michael Meyer's wanna be was the one to start off with, at least if she finished with something softer she might be able to fall asleep tonight without a hitch.
After the popcorn was done popping, she pulled it out and poured it into a bowl. She left the one DVD on the counter, the other followed with her to the main living area. Hayven placed the bowl down, flicked on the television and then popped the DVD into the reader. The television screamed at her, too loud from the last person that used it and she turned it down, made her way to the couch and plopped down on it. She sighed, contempt with staying in for the night.

Elsa had ran all of the way to the dorms from her soccer training. The only reason she was doing all of this sports was because she felt like she was in love with her gym teacher, Mitchell, and she tried so hard to impress him. She always had on an outfit which highlighted the parts of her body which were meant to be highlighted and hid the parts which she'd most prefer to hide, always accesorised as she made the effort to look her best for her training. Only today the first words Mitchell had said to her was 'Take that clown jewellery off, you're not a clown' at the very start of the training and ever since then she had been just waiting to break down into a flood of tears.
Elsa was a sensitive girl and she felt as if her heart had been wretched open with a twisted knife. She pulled at the door of her dorm room and as soon as she entered the tears began to mask their way down her face, dragging the make up she had applied with them. She'd been in the dorm room for only a week and so far hadn't met a single roommate but right now they were the least of her worries. She made her way to the kitchen area and pulled out a big tub of cookie dough ice cream and a spoon before heading towards the living area, whimpering as she did so. Her eyes widened slightly at the sight of another girl in the room, and the smell of popcorn lifted through her nose, but this meerly only caused Elsa to stop in her tracks for a short moment before continuing to the couch. "Would you like a spoon?" she asked the stranger, before once more the tears began to fall flooding down her face.

The commercials ran through on the DVD just as the door to the dorm opened and closed. Curiosity got the best of Hayven and she arched her head around to see who it was.
Was someone crying?
Hayven felt a light groan come up to her throat but she gulped it down as she saw it was a girl with a big tub of ice cream. She offered some to Hayven and Hayven shook her head no and showed off the bowl of popcorn she had.
Hayven's eyes went from the girl to the television as it prodded her to hit play to start the movie. She ignored it for the moment, after all this girl was her roommate and they were living together.
"The best way to get rid of tears is to watch something that scares them out of you." Hayven didn't particularly like crying or crying girls for that matter because she knew somehow it was always tied in with drama.
"Wanna join me?" Hayven scooted over so that she wasn't in the middle of the couch and patted the seat to her right. "Boy problems, right?" It had to be that, every girl had boy problems, except Hayven. She wasn't sure if that was good thing or a bad thing, as Jack happened to point out.

Elsa attempted a small laugh as the girl beside her was nice, probably talking about a horror film or something but either way Elsa was grateful for her reaction. Some girls would just be really mean about it but this girl, even if it was a bit awkward, made a half decent attempt at comfort. ”Right, when life messes you over watch something that’ll stop you from sleeping,” she said with a small giggle. Boys were dumb and stupid and Mr MaCDonald would always be too good for her. She nodded quietly in response as she made her way onto the sofa, pulling her knees up to her chest.
This stranger knew a lot of things and Elsa took it as an invitation to start into her story. ”Clown jewellery,” she sobbed quietly as she gripped at her necklace, ”My daddy bought me this for my seventeenth birthday and I try so hard to impress him and he just doesn’t even notice. It’s like I don’t exist, I mean do you know how hard it is playing soccer in a mini skirt?!” she groaned and stroked down at her scraped knees. ”I hate sports, and it’s getting me no where except some dumb cliquey add on and bruises! I think I’m going to quit, I have to. He doesn’t even care.” she buried her head into her knees and continued to cry softly. Quitting was about right, she was a junior now, and in less than a year she would be eighteen. Eighteen year olds couldn’t cry over one guy, one teacher who they could never have or never be good enough for. She would find her prince charming elsewhere, however sad that thought was. She sighed quietly and looked up to the girl. ”I’m Elsa, I guess we dorm together... sorry for the dramatic introduction, I’m not usually this... stupid.” she said as she wiped at her cheeks.

Acacia was in her room, reading. Her room was mainly still boxes, but it was home, and that was all that mattered. She heard the TV buzz to life, and she sighed, shutting her book, not even marking her page. She had yet to meet her room-mates, and she wasn't sure if it would be a pleasant experience or not. She heard voices... or was it just the TV...? She rolled off her bed, landing on her feet and standing up straight and venturing out, and into the lounge.
She recognised the pitures on the TV, some second rate horror film from the looks of it. It always made her laugh, horror films were made cheaply and yet they made so much money... She wished she could do it. However, generally she wasn't a horror fan, it was all too close to real life for her.
She looked between the two girls, neither of whom she knew... One was clearly upset. 'I hope I'm not disturbing anything?' she said, she could go back to her room otherwise, it was no odds to her. If the girl was upset, maybe it wasn't the best time for introductions anyway...
'I can go back to my room...' she said, her bare feet taking half a side step back in the direction that she'd come from, she felt a tad uncomfortable. She was holding one hand in the other. Earlier in the day she'd been drawing using charcoal, and at the moment she was covering a large charcoal mark that covered the side of her hand. She made a mental note to get rid of it at the first possible opportunity.

Hayven tried not to smile as the girl spoke about clown jewelry and she kinda felt like the guy knew what he was talking about. Hayven wore simple things, this girl wore something far out and extreme. But she would never tell her that of course.
"Well if he makes you cry, then he sure isn't worth the time. Trust me on that." Hayven nodded her head, she knew that much was certain.
"Nice to meet you Elsa, I'm Hayven." Hayven extended a hand of friendship towards her, as her ears perked up to the sound of footsteps.
Someone from behind her looked towards the two of them and Hayven smiled to the girl. A reprieve from the drama of boys hopefully for a while and as she talked about leaving, Hayven shook her head no.
"Stay, sit. Elsa and I were just talking about boys and their stupid thought process." Hayven beckoned the girl in with a motion of her head and a big smile.
"I just popped in a horror flick, you're welcome to join." Hayven didn't know any of her dorm buddies, but it was a good choice to know them and as soon as possible, since they would be spending the year together.

Elsa nodded her head glumly, she just had to get it into her thought processes that he wasn’t worth her time, but he was and she wasn’t worth his and that’s what made her cry. She didn’t know how to be good enough for him. She glanced to her left as she looked at the girl, would she be worth his time? By the looks of it probably just a really beautiful girl who would sleep with him at first glance. But Else would love to lose her virginity and blow her no sex before marriage plans with Mitchell, she wanted him so badly, she always had. ”I guess you’re right. It’s not me, it’s him right... I mean he’s just a total jerk,” she sighed softly as she tried to convince herself of it. Stay positive and ignore the truth. She was too good for Mitchell, yeah right, Elsa thought as she rolled her eyes slightly.
But anyway she had a roommate here and maybe making a friend was a better idea than focusing on some man old enough to be her dad. ”Yeah, I hope we can be good friends,” Elsa grinned in a friendly manner as she returned the hand shake. She opened the ice cream tub and began to dip the spoon into it when another girl took her attention up. She looked kind of a bit gothic, which was something that Elsa had never truely understood but today she wasn’t here to press judgements, and this girl was probably really nice anyway. Elsa nodded her head as Hayven invited the girl to stay. ”Yeah, come sit with us. Girls night, woo!” she grinned and patted the couch beside her. Soon enough if she got her way she could transform her more gothic appearance into something more sociable and then the night truely would be girly.

She gathered from what the first speaker said that the other girl, the one who had seemed upset at first, was called Elsa. She wasn't sure of the other girl's name. This would be bold for her, but she was going to introduce herself (!) 'I'm Acacia,' she said, not sticking out her hand for the others to shake, she was sure they didn't want charcoal dust on them.
'Don't get me started,' she said commenting on guys, and sitting herself down on the sofa. She laughed when Elsa said about a girly night in, 'I hate to break it to you guys, but our other room mate, is a guy.' She suspected that he wouldn't be too keen on the thought of a girly night in, though he might not mind the film, or the ice-cream.
'What film is this?' she asked, and reached for the box, the title wasn't always such a give-away. She scrapped her hair back into a messy bun with the elastic that was on her wrist, as she read the box that was lent on her knee. A little smile crept across her face as she read it, they all basically followed the same rules... How funny.

Hayven smiled as Elisa mentioned being good friends. She didn't have too many good friends, so it would be a first. Most of those in Lockdown only tolerated her because she have leverage, minus the exception of Jack now.
"Friends would be cool." Hayven nodded her head and looked at the girl who introduced herself as Acacia. What a different name.
"I'm Hayven and I had a suspicion that our other roomie was a guy." She wondered just who he was and if he was a decent enough guy. Guess they would just have to wait and see. With three girls living with one guy, she would guess he would have his work cut out for him.
"It's some movie about some teenage girl who kills because of some fucked up family issues. Probably guy problems too." Hayven shrugged her shoulders, wondering how much either of them knew about Michael Meyers.
"Not that I was insinuating anything." She looked at Elsa and frowned for a moment. "Just saying guys can drive ya crazy." Hayven smiled and nodded her head.
"It was a dollar to rent, so I figured the worst case scenario it sucked and I was out a dollar instead of three like most places." Hayven smiled, she was always looking for a deal because she felt every place was ripping her off; ripping off the entire teenage community now that she really thought about it.

Elsa smiled although this goth girl was starting to weird her out a bit, her name seemed so strange like it was taken from a mental band or something. She couldn’t understand the fascination with the dark side, and for some reason this girl looked as though she was a member of the dark society. Elsa on the other hand was really girly. Shopping and dressing up was one of her most favourite activities. Hayven looked more casual. It was as if they were sprawled out on a spectrum, each representing a different point and aspect of it. She sighed, superficial images meant nothing, just like Mitch. ”Nice name,” Elsa pointed out as she tried to throw in a polite smile and rid herself from prejudice. ”Well it’s not really his fault anyway, it’s my fault, I’m just not good enough.” she admitted as she licked a clump of ice cream which was on the spoon. It was strange to think that Aca would have guy problems, maybe it was the type with scraggy metalish hair. That wasn’t Elsa’s type at all. When she suggested their roommate being a guy she felt herself light up a bit. Maybe he was her dream man. They wouldn’t have to move in together because they would already be living together and maybe he was just what she was looking for, although very conveniently placed. ”Ooh,” she exclaimed at the thought, ”That’s exciting then.” Elsa was quite the flirt when it came to boys and she’d had experiences with leading them on, whether she was a fan or not. She rarely moved to the next stage with a guy unless she really liked him or was really drunk so she was a bit of a tease.
Elsa shrugged in response to Hayven’s admittance, it was true they could drive you crazy, they’d driven her to tears so that was enough. Renting films seemed like a strange prospect to Elsa who had only ever bought one. She was slightly confused by the high quality of it but then again they were just the same disc as the ones you bought only they hadn’t been used by strangers. She pulled her hair from a pony tail and began to twirl it around her fingertips. ”You guys should let me do your hair,” She mused but when she said do she meant cut and style, perhaps even dye. A total make over in nice words.

Acacia didn't comment about the film, she would watc it,but she didn't think she would enjoy it. But she wasn't sure Elsa's omment was true. 'I doubt that,' she said. 'If a guy causes you tears, surely he's not good enough for you?' she asked, though she knew that with matters of the heart, people weren't always very rational. Sure she didn't know this girl very well, but she didn't want to see her get hurt, that's for sure.
She had to laugh a little when Elsa's eyes lit up at the sound of another guy. Perhaps Bachelor Number #1 wasn't true love after all.
Acacia thought about her own hair, 'I never know what to do with my hair. When I was little, I used to copy whatever my twin did all the time. I guess now I just let it grow.' Sure she had it cut regularly, but there was no real style there, she'd never had it dyed, or even a set of high-lights. She wouldn't know where to start.
'I thought for a while about shorter hair, but it's always been long, I don't think I'm brave enough,' she said, only really thinking aloud. 'Are you good with hair?' she asked Elsa. It could be very handy having a room-mate who was good at this sort of thing. Maybe she could learn a thing or two.

Hayven noticed how Elsa seemed to light up at the mention of their roomie being a male. Probably some stupid preppy boy or some guy that looked like he came from Mars or something. Hayven wasn't the least bit interested, but she had to agree with Acacia.
"If he makes you cry, he's a jackass!" Hayven put her two cents in, because that was what she was good at. "I wouldn't even waste my breath on someone like that. There are tons of boys at this school anyways." Boys was the right term in her mind, very few acted their ages.
"Maybe I know this boy? What is his name?" Hayven hoped that it wasn't one of the multitude of boys she thought was a looser. At the mention of doing her hair, Hayven frowned and pulled at her strands. There was something wrong with her hair?
"I don't know. I don't really like that short of hair." Elsa's hair was too short for Hayven and too black. Elsa would not being doing her hair if she was going to make her look like her. Soon she would want to dress Hayven like her too and make her some sort of groupie she bet. Well, Hayven didn't follow groups, they were stupid and just down right ridiculous in her mind set.
"Maybe some curls or something." Hayven did her hairs in curls from time to time and that was as wild as she got with her hair.

Elsa frowned, it was sad that Acacia didn’t do much with her hair, it was as if all of that potential had just been lost somewhere along the way. She always hated to see wasted potential, especially when it was fashion related or hair related and by the looks of things both of these girls were wasted potential. Elsa felt a smile begin to grow over her cheeks as she began to get all types of ideas in her head. Perhaps a few lowlights and highlights, Acacia could do with a whole new style, and maybe get her hair thinned out also. ”Your hair seems quite thick, shorter hair might not be too good for it, then again,” Elsa mused as she tilted her head to the side, watching her thoughtfully with a curious pout developing on her lips. She didn’t know, it could work, but the idea of really cutting a girls hair, of really ruining it kind of scared her. You could rescue length but it was harder to rescue a lack of hair. ”Well not really, I’m okay... my mom made me do hers growing up but only for fun. It’s not like I’ve done anything serious, God no, Ew.” she exclaimed. Hair dressing really would never be her forte, she’s get too bored.
Elsa crossed her legs as she glanced at Hayven for a moment, ”Um, he’s called Mitch,” she said shortly not really wanting to dwell over the conversation too much. ”What short of hair?” she asked her curiously. She wanted to cut Hayven’s hair, it would be good fun to do, although if she didn’t like short hair she really should probably know how short she didn’t want it to go to. ”Yey! Curls! I’ll go get my straighteners!” Elsa said with a squee before running quickly into her bedroom.
Five minutes later she returned, a pair of GHD’s in hand as she stopped ahead of them.

Acacia shuddered there was a picture of her and Nyree when they were little with shorter hair. It wasn't a good look for either of them. Maybe Elsa was right. It made her wonder why parents felt the need to dress up twins in identical clothing - surely different clothes would make it easier to tell them apart?
Acacia met Hayven's eyes when Elsa ran out of the room. 'Well, it's goos that she's cheered up,' she commented. It was definetly a good thing, there was no point in being down. 'So do you know this Mitch guy?' she asked, wondering if the guy was a well-known loser, or if he was a nice guy who had acidentally upset their room-mate. She wasn't about to make a judgement of him before even meeting him though.
She looked up at Elsa as she returned. She knew what Ghd's were, but didn't own any herself. She didn't see the point her hair was straight anyway, and she didn't know how to use them to curl.
'I guess if I could choose my hair , it would be light brown, a little like your colour Hayven.' She also thought the black hair madeher look tired, but she figured that she would have God awful roots if she started dying it, so she never bothered.
The horror movie got to a particularly loud part, and it made Acacia jump a little. She'd almost forgotten about it.

Hayven's interest swayed from the movie as she listened to what she hoped was clues about Elsa's crush. The name made her shrug and make a small face when she thought about how old the name sounded. Hayven watched wide eyed as Elsa took off to get some things for Hayven's hair and Hayven couldn't help but groan at the idea of setting off something potentially bad.
When Acacia asked her about Mitch, Hayven shrugged. "He might be new and if he is, I don't pay attention to them. I've never heard of anyone named Mitch before a few seconds ago." Hayven hoped it was someone worth while, the idea of Elsa being mixed up in the wrong crowd seemed bad for her and perhaps her potential room mates.
Soon Elsa was back in the room and buzzing around like the busy bee that she was which made Hayven tired for the girl and herself.
"Really?" Her attention turned back to Acacia when she complimented her hair color, a smile wide and appreciative upon her face.
"Can you make it like mine, if you wanted to that was?" Hayven never died her hair any color that was darker than her natural look, so she had no idea if dark hair could become lighter with bleach or any other products.
"We could try if you wanted." Hayven shrugged and looked at both girls after offering the suggestions.
