The wind blew in the air, pulling at the eighteen year olds wet and soggy tee as he sat by the pond. He'd only just crawled out, his fingertips gripping onto the wet the grass which surrounded the swarmy waters. Ever since the death of his brother three years ago Jack had been known to do the more reckless, rash actions. He wasn't afraid to go diving, to go into the Myers' bedroom for a night, to cross a busy road, to do any of those things which could scare a person. He had lost all that he could lose, apart from his parents and his girlfriend, but his brother was his life. His brother took up the majority of his good memories, he'd listened to everything and anything, and now he was gone, with a sliced neck and a body empty of life. After that nothing could scare you, only the idea of not getting revenge and to get that revenge Jack would do anything. Living was a mere inconvenience and a filler of time until that happened. At first he had felt guilty for enjoying himself, for not sitting in a room alone and full of hate, but eventually that feeling had began to fade with the help of his girlfriend and, suprisingly, Lockdown. Of course his dad was well up for keeping the feelings there but along with revenge he had to fight, fight to stay alive until his immortal enemy took his last breath in battle to the death, a slay down of two hereos.
He pulled his knees up and leaned his arms out against the cold grass. He knew he would probably be lonely here, the smell of the pond would have probably scared everyone away, especially away from him. He could feel the slime on his head, reshaping his dark hair. Maybe his girlfriend could face the smell but then again their arguments were getting worse, and the moments were far and few between. Commitment seemed like an idea from the jackass who haunted the town, he was very commited to his acts, but as for Jack he couldn't bring himself to stay commited to anything, even things he loved. He inhaled a deep breath and grabbed his phone from the place he left it to avoid water damage. Water damage was pretty much a sin but it happened and when it did you were pretty much screwed for life. Jack didn't have the financials that he said he did, he couldn't replace a phone so easily. He placed the screen in front of his face, a small smile turning up at the side of his lips as he laughed at how goony he looked, wet from the pond. He liked his appearance though, he always had liked his appearance. Nothing, especially not water, or even stench from a pond, was going to put him down.

It felt good to be home. Ashley had found herself missing Haddonfield, so she left the confinements of Hillcrest, and headed back to her parents' place. Once there, she had grown restless, and had decided to go venture outside into the town. Without a destination in mind, Ashley had found herself at Haddonfield Memorial Park.
The park was a popular spot for the townfolk of Haddonfield. A large grassy field where the masses could gather around the pond in the middle, talk about life or just sit and think quietly. Ashley had gone over to the children's playground, and sat on one of the swings for a while, pushing herself back and forth, the wind ruffling through her long golden hair. She swung for a few minutes before she grew restless again, and hopped off.
In a simple yellow tee worn under an open black cardigan and straight-leg blue jeans, with sneakers, Ashley made her way over to the pond, with intentions of tossing some stones into the murky waters. The last thing she expected was seeing someone crawl out from the pond. As she had reached the edge of the pond, she let out a startled gasp as someone began to crawl out from the water. It was a man, no, make that a guy, crawling out from the murky waters of the pond.
She took a good look at the guy who was soaked to the bone, trying not to focus on the slime that coated his dark hair. Who'd be crazy enough to take a dip in there? she asked herself, a slight frown creasing her forehead. She had her answer when she realized it was Jack Banner, someone she knew from school. They had spoken to each other a few times, they had English class together. She had never seen him outside of school, and she wondered if taking a dip in the pond was a common activity for him.
She cleared her throat, tossed her long blonde hair away from her face, and eyed him warily, a hand resting on a perfect jutting hip. "Did you fall in?!" she asked him curiously.

Jack heard a voice from behind him and as he turned his head he recognised her almost instantly. They hadn’t really talked that much, or nothing too memorable but he was sure he had had a few conversations with her over the years, probably just after his brother had died. There were too many random people approaching him asking him if he was okay, but their faces seemed much like blurs. But her face was little more than a blur but only because he shared a class with her. English, Jack used to be pretty into English back when he was a freshman and Laurie taught it but after that night, well his inspiration seemed to have turned elsewhere.
A chuckle echoed from his voice as he considered her question, had he fallen in. Perhaps he could say that but then he’d have to admit to being clumsy and Jack wasn’t too fond of that, he was a bit arrogant and no one, not even himself, would be insulting him. It was one of his worst traits. ”I wouldn’t exactly say that,” Jack mused thoughtfully, ”I actually went for a swim. I’d ask you to join me but,” he glanced down at his wet attire and then back up to her, as if it was obvious, ”I’m already wet.” Jack continued with a small smirk as he watched her.
She was a complete strange or she may as well have been yet there was something familiar in her as he watched her. He knew she wasn’t in Lockdown but she had the look as though she would probably want to be in it. She looked as if she wouldn’t leave the house without taking three hours to get ready, they were different kinds of preppy. She probably would never go for a swim in the pond, most people wouldn’t but most people were stopped by fear of what people thought, Jack didn’t care about that anymore. The idea of a person judging him for living life seemed really futile. ”I should probably know your name...?” Jack sighed, ”Only I don’t.”

Ashley always found Jack attractive, and standing there before him, even if he was wet with pond water, and had slime that slicked his hair back, she could feel her cheeks redden a little. She played it cool though. She crossed her arms over her chest and eyed him as he subtlely invited her to join him in the pond. Her stomach churned a little bit as she ticked her gaze to the water. No way she was getting into that. She let out a slight laugh as she sat down by the edge of the water.
"I'm Ashley. Ashley Palmer. We had English class together one year. With Mr. Chomsky. The one with the bad toupee." she explained, thinking back to how the teacher had been one of Michael Myers' victims. They said he had gone to Haddonfield for a hot date, yet they found him sitting in his car in a back alley, his throat slashed from ear to ear. Finding a replacement for him had been tough, from what she remembered.
She remembered Jack himself, had been involved with Myers in some way. If memory served her right, his brother had been murdered by Myers as well. A cold shiver slowly slid down her spine. She cleared her throat, almost as if it would clear the gruesome images playing through her mind like a broken picture show. She picked a few strays blades of grass, tossing them into the air, watching the light breeze blow them away.
"So what brings you to Haddonfield Memorial Park for a swim? Couldn't find some cleaner body of water?" she asked, looking over at him with a smirk. She ticked her gaze to how his wet tshirt clung just nicely to his athletic body, and then she ticked her gaze back up to him. So she was a little boy-crazy. Could you blame her? And she knew Jack had a girlfriend, but looking didn't ever hurt anyone.
Finding some pebbles, she tossed them into the water, watching them ripple the surface, and then dissapear down into the murky waters.

Jack gave a short nod of his head as she reminded him of who she was. Ashley rang a great bell only her surname didn’t. Either way Jack didn’t really care she was here today, here right now and he knew her name. As long as he didn’t forget it he wouldn’t seem like too much of a jerk. Although that had never really been one of his worries in this meeting.
As his attention was stolen by the wind Jack looked up towards the darkening of the sky. It was pretty much a good time to go swimming when you could see the stars. He breathed in deeply. It was so strange the thought that had he grown up in a different place his life would be like it used to be. It seemed so strange that the curse of his life was his hometown. Almost impossible to fathom, and it gave him something else to blame his dad for. They could have located when he was younger and it would all be okay. None of the curse would have been inflicted on them, but then there was also the thought of blaming John too. It wasn’t his fault that Michael had been after him but if John hadn’t existed and if Laurie had been killed when she was seventeen maybe his brother would still be here today, and maybe swimming in ponds would be a disgusting thought to him.
As she continued to talk Jack slowly turned his head in her direction, thankful for the darkness which shadowed over them. It was easier to look at people when they were shadow casted. Jack simply shrugged, ”I’m not sure the pool’s open this time.” he admitted as his eyes glanced over at the pond, ”It’s more dangerous swimming in a pond though. Kind of excites me!” he grinned as he watched her and her seeming fascination with the pebbles in the water. ”I hope they can swim,” he mused playfully before sitting up and turning his back to the water’s edge. He was tempted to go back inside of it, it would at least stop her pebble throwing and being a pain was Jack’s number one priority. He leaned over the side and slipped into the cold embrace of the water once more. With a small shiver Jack adjusted back to the water’s temperature as he began to tread it, this time his eyes searching up to the blonde. ”What’s a girl like Ashley P doing out in a park late at night? Didn’t your parents ever warn you that weirdos hung out in parks?!” he teased.

Ashley tossed another pebble into the water, turning her attention to Jack, as his sudden movement snapped her back to reality. She watched, as he slid back into the pond. He barely made a splash as he entered the water. Ashley watched, a slightly amused expression on her face.
"That water can be totally diseased, you know." she pointed out. Not that it would do any good, it's not like Jack would take her advice. She was pretty much a stranger to him. And so she sat there, watching him wade his way through the water. She wondered what person in their right mind would find entertainment in doing something like that. She wouldn't. She knew how to have fun, but swimming in a slimy, foul smelling pond was not her cup of tea. The way Jack was comfortable with it, made Ashley frown slightly.
Maybe the rumors were right. Maybe he had lost his mind a little once his brother was killed. Maybe he didn't care about anything anymore, and just did what he wanted. Ashley ticked her gaze up to the stars for a moment. Watching them twinkle above in the dark canopy that was the sky. She could sit there all night, just watching the stars. But now, she snapped back to reality as Jack's voice broke her out of her thoughts.
"My parents taught me alot of things." she said to him in response. A smirk played on her clear glossed lips. It was true. Her parents let her be independent, find out stuff on her own. They weren't pushy or too overprotective. Ashley liked that. It made her feel more like an adult, even though she was still a teen.
"What about you? Didn't your parents teach you not to go off alone in a town like this? What with this town's history.." she trailed off, wanting to bite her tongue. Had she said too much? She knew she was right. People dissapeared occasionally in this town, and they would be found soon later, butchered. People would talk that it was Michael Myers, making his rounds. Ashley believed them. Death walked the streets of this little midwestern town. Yet people went on with their daily lives like it was nothing.
Her eyes scanning the thickening shadows that seemed to be reaching for them, Ashley shivered and hugged herself, looking out to Jack who was still enjoying himself in the pond.

Jack laughed as she reminded him of the mess from the water. She was a pretty funny person to be around and he wondered why he hadn’t spent more time with her previously, surely such a charming young lady couldn’t have escaped his eyes before. Oh well. He swam closer to her and with one big effort splashed at the water as he tried to get some on her. ”Live on the wild side a bit, you’ll enjoy yourself more!” he teased but it was nice to have some company in the late hours. ”I guess you’d get wrong if you came home soaking though right, I wouldn’t want your parents to tell you off, ground you and all that.” he rolled his eyes as he mocked her, urging her to break through her pattern of supposed perfection and climb into the pond.
”Ah ha, daddy’s girl right?” He ducked his head beneath the water and looked around in the darkness. Only he couldn’t see anything, in fact it stung his eyes as he struggled to keep them open beneath the dirty shadows. It wasn’t much longer before he came up to greet the girl again. What she said took him off guard slightly but it was probably what most people were thinking. Jack wasn’t really discrete about his plans to people but he wondered if it would scare her off knowing about his revenge death wish. For a moment Jack considered this and then he just shrugged and coughed out some water. ”Do you mean Michael Myers?” Jack asked her curiously. People didn’t seem eager to speak his name and for a long time Jack wasn’t either. ”It’s not Halloween and as far as I know I’m not related to him, and I’m not in his way so no danger.” he smiled fakely as he hoped that she could allow herself to dance in his lies of reason. Probably not, it didn’t make much sense. If anything with his brother acting so calm and collected about his killer would only seem far too fake, so he gave up. ”Actually I’m lying, well I’m not. There isn’t any danger, but I’m kind of hoping I’ll run into him one day. It’s kind of hard since I could be living with the guy and not know it – I mean no one knows what he looks like beneath the mask right, but I don’t know I want to get him. It’s like the only reason I have now,” he admitted softly as he looked down to the water for a moment, biting on his lip. Only it tasted kind of gross so he wrinkled up his nose at the prospect of it. But now the judging would come. He’d admitted the truth, his reason for living. No longer did he want to be a lawyer, he didn’t really want anything except revenge and a few niceties inbetween. ”You’re right though, my parents probably did teach me at some point not to go off alone in the middle of the night in a town like this, but yeah... I think I’m safe, like I said... it’s not Halloween,” he added quietly, almost as if to distract her from the truth, or to distract her from her judgements.

Ashley took a nervous glance around. Almost as if saying Michael's name would draw him out. Her large green eyes scanned the darkness surrounding them. Trying to find something out of the ordinary. Somewhere off in the distance, a dog barked. She hugged herself once more, another shiver of fear sliding down her spine.
She startled, almost jumping out of her skin as Jack splashed some water in her direction. Forgetting about her fear, she laughed and tried to dodge the drops of pond water coming her way. She was fast enough, and most of the water hit the grass, a few spots landing on her shirt. Ashley pouted and looked over at Jack. "You're gonna get it!" she laughed.
So Jack thought she didn't know how to have fun. She would prove him wrong. She kicked off her sneakers, pushing them aside on the grass, and took a step into the pond. She let out a soft gasp. The water was cold! It baffled her how Jack was swimming around comfortably in it. She rolled up the legs of her jeans. "How can you swim in this? Its so vile!" she laughed. If he thought she was going to submerge herself completely, he was so wrong.
She waded in a bit deeper. She wondered what kind of creepy crawlies were at the bottom of this pond. Snakes? She hoped not. She was deathly afraid of snakes. Ashley tried to peer into the inky blackness that was the water. She grimaced, and then looked over at Jack as he made his confession. She stopped and listened to his explanation. To her, it sounded like he had some sort of deathwish. He wanted to find Michael!? Not many people survived an encounter with Michael Myers. She knew that.
The way Jack confessed to her casually, had her mind screaming with second thoughts. She backed away a little. "I don't understand. Why do you want to find Michael Myers? He'll kill you." She stated bluntly. She took another glance around. She had the feeling it was time to go.

Jack laughed loudly in her response, backing up slightly into the depth of the pond, ”Oh yeah, how you gonna do that? I’m submerged fully in the water!” Jack teased as he watched her girly attempts of paddling. Jack rolled his eyes at her, she was pretty much like any other normal person of course but he was hoping for more. If he could he would get her entirely in the pond tonight. It would be kind of funny walking her home and hopefully catching a glimpse of her parents reactions. But then again she could just say she fell which kind of ruined things a bit. He was very tempted to go back to his dad’s house to see his reaction but Jack really wasn’t that brave enough. ”How can you not swim in this? It’s lushly textured, I mean anything could touch you and you’d never know what it is. It’s fucking beautiful!” he chortled truthfully.
He glanced up at her, kind of hoping she would come into the water a little deeper so he remained that distant away from her, hoping that it could tempt her further. ”You’re totally chicken, I mean even Theo would come in deeper than that,” he mocked. He wasn’t too sure what the beef was between himself and Theo but there was something there. Living together they had to be the least bit civilised, but they still managed to argue, constantly. ”Yeah, that’s kind of the plan... I’m not suicidal or anything, don’t worry. I just want to kill him, but what cooler way to die yourself.” Jack shrugged, he was trying to make it sound a lot more easy going than it was, but the truth was really quite a bit deeper than that. He sighed and swam closer to her, reaching out his hand. ”Give me your hand, I’ll help you get in deeper. Throw any valuables onto the grass so they don’t get wet, Miss Prep.” He was half expecting her to reject it, and he really had probably said too much. If he didn’t want to go to Smith’s Grove he should probably keep his mouth shut a bit more and preserve the peace.

This was not the way Ashley had expected the night to go. To be swimming in a rank smelling pond with a guy from school, who seemed to have a death wish. And actually enjoying herself. She was having fun, despite her mind that was screaming at her to stop playing around and just leave.
But no, she was staying. Everything valuable she had on her, was in her purse by the water's edge. She stole a glance behind her to see if it was still there, yes, it was. She turned back to Jack, as he extended his hand out to her. She eyed him warily, but then gave him her hand, so he could lead her out further into the pond.
Ashley was tense as they moved through the pond. The water soaking through her jeans. She prayed to baby jesus that she wouldn't feel anything brush up against her as she walked, there could have been any kind of creepy crawly in the water with them. She didn't know how Jack could do it, but with him, all bets were off. She didn't even know him really, and she could tell he was someone who was spontaneous, someone who kept you on your toes when you were around them.
She wondered what his intentions were. What his personal vendetta was against Michael Myers. The way he casually said he was going to kill him, it caused a frown to crease her pretty face. "I don't mean to sound nosy, but, why do you want to kill Michael Myers?" she said, trying to grasp onto the idea. From what she read and heard on the news, Michael was pretty tough to kill. He just kept coming back, like a great white shark.
"People have tried to stop him, to kill him, and he just keeps coming back." she explained to Jack. She noticed that she was now almost completely submerged in the water. It was almost up to her shoulders now. Just how deep did it go? It didn't matter, she wasn't going any further now. She turned to the guy, waiting to hear his response.

Jack smiled as she accepted his hand into the water. It certainly was a start, he glanced at her carefully as he watched her reaction to the cold water. ”Don’t think, just do it.” he offered. Of course he tried not to touch the bottom when he could help it, he tried to keep himself floating but that wasn’t always the case. The idea of how many frogs and toads were here, snakes and fish and whatever else hid inside of ponds kind of freaked him out a little bit but it had no pretences and that attracted him to it. He could be himself in this pool.
Her question surprised Jack quite a lot, he thought most people knew about his brother but maybe he’d just been too far and stuck up in his own world to realise that nobody really scared about him or Samuel, his dead brother. ”He killed my brother, three years back.” Jack answered her quietly with a small smile as if to eradicate the awkwardness from admitting that. ”It was Halloween and I guess he hadn’t been on the scene in a while. My brother was coming home from a party from John’s house. I guess it was just wrong place, wrong time.” Jack shrugged. His brother couldn’t have been any sort of target. Laurie even taught at the school back then before she killed the wrong man. Michael had ruined everything, he was total evil. His mask suited him, emotionless, uneasy. It was strange to call him a man, he was more like a creature, a different breed of person. He brought up so much hate and hurt in Jack so he tried not to think about it, and he tried to stay calm whenever he did and emotionless to him, like he was doing so now. ”The only people who have tried, bar one, have been running from him. I’m trying to find him and I don’t care what happens to me in the process so I think that has me in good standstill but I think he’s smart too so I’ll have to be smart as well.” Jack said casually with a shrug as if planning out how to win in a game of football. ”Anyway how does the water feel for you? It could probably feel better if you like... took your clothes off,” he sniggered an attempt to change the topic of conversation, although it was worth a try.

Ashley listened as Jack opened up to her, told her about how his brother had been one of Michael's many victims. Her stomach sank as she listened. Now she understood why Jack had a vendetta against the masked killer. He was out for revenge. To avenge the untimely death of a family member. She bit gently down on her bottom lip, at a loss of words.
"Sounds like you and your brother were close." she told Jack. Thinking about it, Ashley could see through Jack's point of view. If someone she cared so deeply about, like a family member, was killed in cold blood, she would probably be out for revenge too.
For example, as if her parents were killed. Ashley could see herself having a breakdown. She'd go mental. Just totally fucking lose it. She'd have to be strapped up in a straightjacket. And once that was done, she would be out for revenge. Jack didn't seem to be that mentally stable, so she figured he was still picking up the pieces from his brother's murder. Picking up the fragments of his shattered mind. She sympathized for him.
She shivered, and not just from the cold pond water. There they were, enjoying each other's company in the dark night. The stars twinkling above them, like glitter. Ashley gazed up at the black velvet canopy overhead. "Nice night." she said softly. Her eyes snapped back to Jack as he made a comment about losing her clothes.
She scoffed at him. "You wish." she said with a sneer. So maybe he wasn't mentally stable, but he sure did sound like your typical high school guy at that moment. "What is it with guys wanting us girls to get naked? Why don't YOU lose the clothes!?" she told Jack, rolling her eyes, slightly annoyed.

Jack shrugged, what was there to say? That he and Sam were close. It seemed only inevitable that they were. Of course some brothers hated each other but Jack never knew how to hate Sam, the worst was that he only knew how to be envious of him. He’d always looked up to his big brother, he’d always wanted to be a version of him, only he never was. ”Well he was my brother,” Jack said quietly. Everyone would feel the same way as he about a murder, surely, or maybe he was just special in his own little way. Jack didn’t like to dwell on the idea too much.
Jack glanced up at the dark sky above them and then back to Ashley, a smile breaking out onto his somber face. ”Nice night for a swim in a pond,” he laughed quietly. It was nice that a girl like Ashley could actually go into a pond late at night with a random guy from her English class. He’d have to move seats next to her or something, it would probably make that pointless class somewhat fun. He smiled to himself. But now the conversation was starting to get interesting. Jack raised his eyebrow defiantly, ”Oh I do, and you know it so well,” he teased. Of course he would love her to get naked, he was your every day jerk off. His eyes brightened at her challenge. ”Fine!” he said as he ducked under the water and began to wrestle with his wet jeans to pry them from his legs. Finally once he’d managed to get them off he reached the surface coughing for his air before throwing the jeans to the side rather dramatically. He felt a lot lighter without them, clothes really did weigh you down. His top was a lot easier to get off and he was glad for it because he didn’t need an embarrassing display of top wrestling. Jack smirked as he stood in his boxer shorts, the water dancing to his shoulders as he watched for her reaction. ”Your turn.”

Ashley found her cheeks reddening as Jack lost his clothing. This was getting interesting. She wished she had a camera to capture this moment. She wondered what Jack's girlfriend would think if she found out he was practically naked in the memorial park pond with another girl. Ashley chuckled softly to herself.
Jack was inviting her to get rid of her clothes as well. "Hmmm." she said, pondering. It was a tempting offer. Her clothes were already drenched, she saw no problem of losing them. She shook her head, a laugh escaping her lips, as she reached down, and began pulling up her top. Tan skin exposed, glowing in the moonlight. Exposing the black lace bra she wore, that she filled out quite nicely.
Ashley was not ashamed of her body. Of her beauty. She was a girl who was comfortable in her own skin, unlike some girls her age. But she turned away as she heard a familiar noise. The chirp of her cellphone. Her top fell back into place as she turned to look at Jack. "Be right back." she told him. She moved off, wading over to the edge of the pond.
Her clothes stuck wetly to her body, giving Jack quite the view. She thought nothing of it as she leaned over her purse, and rummaged around until she found her cellphone. Pushing her wet blonde locks away from her face, she flipped the phone open. "Hello?" she said into the phone. She listened to the voice on the other end of the line. "I'm at Haddonfield Memorial Park." she said to her mother, who was calling. She listened to the voice talking quickly on the other end. "Ok ok, just calm down. What is this about?!" she asked, a frown creasing her face.
She looked back at Jack who was in the water, motioned for him to give her a minute. "I'm not alone! I'm with a friend from school. Who? What does it matter?" she asked, annoyance ringing in her tone of voice. She listened some more. "Alright! I'll be there soon." she said with a sigh. Without saying goodbye, she hung up the phone and went over to the water's edge.
"My mom's freaking. She wants me home right now." she explained to Jack. Hopefully he wouldn't give her a hard time about bailing. "She was ranting and raving something about Michael Myers. There was a sighting or something." she said, giving a vague recount of what her mother had told her. If it was true, then the two teenagers were better off inside somewhere.
Ashley picked up her purse, dropping her phone inside, and slid back into her sneakers. "Are you coming?" she asked Jack, raising an eyebrow in his direction.

Jack smiled as his eyes searched her body. He wanted her, right now in the pond. He’d never had sex in the pond but today was certainly a chance for it. He licked his lips willing and began to advance towards her before suddenly his moment was ruined by a cell phone. Jack raised an eyebrow as he watched her get out of the water. ”Hurry up, Barbie,” he teased but he was serious, she had to hurry up. The reason he was with Larrissa was because he thought she was one of the most beautiful girls he’d ever seen, he really did care about her, especially when they first got together but they were going through problems, they were going through a lot of problems right now. Ashley was pretty but not in the way he found Larrissa pretty, but she was a substitute and she would do. He watched her as she spoke on the phone, it didn’t seem to be going so well and he was cold.
However on what she said he felt himself swimming fast until he reached the waters edge and climbed out without much of a problem. ”What the fuck?” Jack asked as he scowled bitterly at her, ”Why? Why the hell is she so paranoid? I mean really the last time he so much as hurt anyone was three years ago, and before that it was like what, twenty? He’s really not a threat, seriously. Psychopaths don’t break their routines and it’s not Halloween!” Jack argued as he approached her, closing in on her now. He walked to her and enclosed his arms around her waist, holding her gently in his own. ”Stay with me... be a rebel for once, I mean I’ll protect you if any sociopath tries to get you, Ash.” Jack bribed with a persuasive smile, ”Scare your mom for a bit, it’ll do her good.”
