The sky was dark overhead as Ryder lay half in, half out of the entrance to his tent, his home. It was nice and spacey inside and he liked it a lot more than his old home built with bricks and concrete and whatnot. He was right here with nature, his eyes peering out at the stars which flickered against the midnight sky. He had a politics essay to develop and although it was a little dark Ryder knew very well how to use his typewriter, he didn't need to see the letters to know where they were. Type writers were what he used, they didn't take the power that laptops did, they didn't destroy the universe. It seemed to him to be so contradictory that when you were writing an essay, writing something which could change the reader's life, or the writers future, that using something so derogetory as a laptop was only narrowing out any future sucess and destroying everything, like a whirlwind only they were an act of nature so Ryder could emphathise more.
He pulled out a match box from his pocket and lit a match, the fire illuminating each breath he took, shadowing his face in light and darkness, casting puddles. He could feel his eyes widening as he looked up at the sky in awe, pausing in his essay as he inhailed the fresh air. How anybody couldn't live in a tent he didn't know, it was almost as though he was being brought back to his ancestors home, a more natural life where he lived at ease in the surrounding nature, and in this case the surrounding tents. It was a lot more lively in the summer, but very quiet in the winter. Now it was just okay, not empty but not too full, and he appriciated the peace right now. The night was beautiful and it would be a night he would hold onto.

Acacia had been quite nervous about meeting up with Ryder again. Thoush he hadn't said it was a date, she felt like it was. She'd never been on a date. She didn't have a clue about what to wear, how to act... anything. She considered phoning Ashley, she was always so good with advice. But, she didn't want to appear completely dense. She decided that comfort was the key here. If she felt comfortable, she would be more relaxed. That was the theory anyway. She settled on her favourite jeans that had a few flecks of paint around the pockets, and a plain blue v-neck shirt. She decided that it was pretty without looking like she was trying too hard and it wasn't too fleshy, without it being a turtleneck.
Ryder had given her pretty good directions to where his tent was located. She'd read them quite a few times to make sure she definetly knew where she was going, before setting off. It was only a short walk to the camp site from her house, and the closer she got, the more her legs were shaking. She didn't get why she was so anxious about tonight. It was out of character for her.
As his tent came into sight, she wished that she'd brougt something with her. Or making done some baking, it would have been a nice gesture, she made a mental note to do it next time. She smiled as she saw that it was him at the entrance of the tent, she didn't want to startle him though as he looked very deep in thought. She came close, and then stopped outside. Usually she would have knocked, but in this case she couldn't. 'Knock, knock,' she said softly.

Ryder saw as Acacia approached but remained quiet and silent, wondering if maybe he would blend in, if her eyesight was good in the dark. He rolled over as she introduced her existence and smiled. ”I told you it was luxurious,” Ryder teased as he leaned on his side and patted the grass beside him. He felt slight embarrassment as he looked up at her, she was probably used to proper places and proper houses and tables and chairs and tvs. He knew why he was living here but she didn’t and he felt like he should almost go and explain himself. He gulped softly and removed the type writer to the side, he almost felt as if he should have a laptop just to fit in but Ryder had never been one to fit in, and he always pretended he was okay with that too. ”Before you say anything, let me explain, I do have money, I could afford a house probably, and a laptop and be more like other people, but it’s not what I want, I don’t feel like I need these things to be happy in my life.” He took a hold of her hand and pointed up at the sky. ”In a house you get to look out your window, but here you’re constantly surrounded by it. I mean just take a breath, it’s not that warm breath you feel inside, it’s fresh, it’s real, and alive.” he pointed out as he looked upwards. He was hoping she would understand but maybe she wouldn’t and maybe she wasn’t here to look up at the stars.
He stopped looking up and turned his gaze to her, she looked pretty in a natural way that he liked, and if he couldn’t justify himself by the sky he would do it other ways. He leaned towards her and wrapped his arms around her body, holding her close to him before he pressed his lips against hers. He allowed them to linger there, wondering if she would push him off or not, before he pulled away.

She smiled as he made fun of himself. His living situation didn't bother her in the slightest - but she knew many people would be put off. She sat down next to him, and crossed her legs. She then decided that it was too odd, with the two of them on different levels. So she uncrossed her legs and sat so that she was leaning back on her elbows, and the lower half of her body was horizontal.
Her gaze fell on the typewriter. She always had a think for typewriters, they were kinda retro and maybe that was why she liked them. She shook her head when he started almost explaining about his lifestyle choice. 'I know,' she said, with a little half smile playing across her lips. She did understand what he meant about being surrounded by nature, rather than viewing it from afar. And, he was right, the air around them smelt a little woody and smoky, for the fire, but it was more than that. It was a little indescribable.
She was about to say something, when his look at her made her stop. She wasn't sure quite why, it wasn't like her to stop when she felt like she had a valid point, but then something rather unexpected happened. He kissed her, and not just a polite, fleeting peck like you'd give to some long lost relative. A real kiss, that was sincere and passionate. She then started to worry, this was her first kiss... was she doing it wrong? More importantly was she doing it right? He didn't pull away, so it couldn't have been too awful. She had even thought about putting lip balm on earlier, but then discounted it, she hadn't thought they'd have gotten to this stage tonight.
She moved one of her hands round so that it was on the back of his neck, the other was near his stomach, but she wasn't really aware of it. She didn't really want him to pull away, but when he did, she looked up at him wide-eyed. She wasn't sure where it really left them now, she swallowed, and waited for him to say something. Anything that came to her mind, for her to say, sounded rather lame.

Ryder glanced over at Acacia, she seemed so accepting and it was weird to him because usually it was only he who was the accepting one. Everyone else was supposed to hate everything he stood for and think he was uber weird and whatnot, but she didn’t seem to think so much of him. She accepted him for who he was, it seemed so strange to find. Maybe she was the only person in the world who he’d find who was like that. But would he have to cook her meat or anything? The thought was enough to make him wince as if he’d been strongly hurt... he didn’t want to buy meat, to cook it, to taste it on her lips.
He glanced sideways at her. She seemed comfy enough. ”I can get a blanket if you’re cold?” Ryder offered her. ”Or you can go inside... it’s a bit warmer inside.” he admitted softly, but he wanted to stay here outside. It was breath taking.
Ryder smiled as she kissed him back, his hands still wrapped around her body. She must have gotten somewhat into it as her hands had found his neck and his back. He was worried maybe he was rushing things with her but then again it was only a kiss. He sat up slightly with an air of spontaneousness about him before he reached for her hands to pull her up. Ryder had his hands around her waist before he picked her up in the air and started to twirl her around. But he’d never really done it before, he was just being random and he hadn’t seen the rock on the floor which made him trip and drop her. He fell to the ground, landing on top of her, straddling over her body. ”Oops, are you okay?” Ryder asked as he stifled a laugh with his hand. But he wasn’t about to let that ruin his night. He leaned down over her and began to kiss her again, only this time more passionately as he let his tongue slip inside of her mouth. His hands lifted for his shirt as he pulled it over his head. It was an inconvenience as he had to stop kissing her but Ryder only wanted to kiss her. He wasn’t too sure what she thought about making out outside. In Ryder’s opinion it was the best place to do it, doing an act of nature surrounded by nature. What else? ”Are you hungry?” he asked her quietly as he breathed deeply, sitting up slightly to grab a beer he’d been drinking previously. ”Do you want a drink? Food, clothes, blankets, contraception...” He went on teasingly, whether he used condoms or not had nothing to do with his teasing but he had to admit he kind of liked being straddled over her, being so close to her, so near being intimate. It excited him.

She merely shook her head, her loong hair following behind her. It was cool and refreshing out in the open for the moment, though she may get cold later.
She wondered what he was doing when he pulled her to her feet. She shrieked a little as he hoisted her into the air. But, she laughed nevertheless, and squeezed her eyes shut. She fell, luckily the grass beneath her was soft, so the fall wasn't too bad. She only said a little 'ow,' but it was between laughs, it had been pretty funny, so she could forgive him.
She looked up at him and smiled when he asked if she was alright, she thought about it for a moment, before nodding. She wasn't even that aware that he was straddling her. She was glad when he continued with the kissing though. Looking up, when he pulled away she saw what he was doing. She wasn't sure if he should be taking his shirt off, was that making things go too fast? She wasn't sure. He did have a nice chest though...
She realised she had been looking at his chest, and stopped as soon as she did actually realise. She sat up a little, leaning back on her elbows, and shook her head. 'None of the others, but I wouldn't mind a drink, if you have one please?' she asked. She possibly blushed when he said about a condom. Usually she wasn't the blushing type, but she couldn't help it in this instance. But, she still didn't comment on it though.

Ryder jumped up off her smirking as he disappeared inside the tent. It was dark inside but he knew his way around. He couldn’t help but smile to himself knowing that Acacia would be waiting outside and what was more good was that she didn’t want contraception, meaning she didn’t want a condom, meaning she was like him too. She was an environmentalist who disagreed with condoms and when those treats came along it usually meant he was going to get laid. Ryder didn’t sleep with people he didn’t like, he only slept with someone he wanted to be in a relationship with or good friends with or be connected with. He enjoyed intimacy with people he cared about and with Acacia he was hoping mostly for a relationship. A relationship with Acacia would be pretty much a wet dream for him right now. He grimaced slightly as he realised he only had a bottle of water and a couple of bottles of beer. What if she was a wine drinker? Did she even drink alcohol? It didn’t matter, he’d take both. Quickly Ryder undone his belt buckle and tossed the belt aside, easily sliding out of his jeans. If this was going to happen there should be no beating around the bush and anyway he was confident with his body, she could see him in his boxer shorts.
He grabbed the bottles and carried them out to her, crawling. ”We have beer, or water. I don’t have a bottle opener if you want the beer but I do have my teeth which is just as good. Make sure you don’t throw them away though, I recycle them.” Ryder stated as he dropped the bottles on the floor for her to choose from. He sat on the grass and glanced up at the sky. ”Tell me about your life anyway, what’s school like for you, must be hard being a free spirit and all?” Ryder asked. He was feeling quite bouncy now, happy and enthusiastic to have her with him, and also highly curious as she came to the decision against using contraception which he implied in the word free spirit.

Acacia started to smile as he came out of the tent, out of the two, she was definetly a water drinker. But,she quickly noticed that he was in his boxer shorts. She swallowed quickly, and pretended not to notice. Maybe he did think her on the 'whore' side of the spectrum, that she would sleep with him after one evening. She was becoming increasingly nervous - this was not her style at all, but she did like him, and didn't want to ruin things between them. Her gaze drifted - his legs were just as nice as his chest.
'Water, please,' she said with a smile. 'I kinda go a bit giggly after alcohol,' she said honestly. It wasn't a good side to her - or so she thought anway.
She took a sip of her water and considered his question. 'I guess I'm just trying to get through the whole experience alive. I study hard, and just keep my head down, and hope that the wrong kind of people will just leave me alone,' she said with a shrug. Not that it'd been easy of late. 'I have a few good friends though,' she said with a nod. 'One is a little preppy, but she has a heart of gold,' she said thinking bac to Ashley. 'I did have a sister who died,' she said thinking to Sienna. 'I rarely speak to or see my parents, despite sharing a roof with them, and I spend most of my spare time painting and writing,' she said, trying to cram most of her life into a nutshell, just to give him an overview.
She then looked embarrassed, 'I guess I just spent too long talking about myself.' It was weird to have someone ask, and then be genuinely interested though. She liked it.

Ryder frowned as she chose water over beer. He always liked being drunk in the outdoors, it made for viewing the sky so much nicer. ”I’d like to see you giggly,” he admitted with a short smile. He was watching her specifically to see if she was even looking at him. He was almost naked and yet she seemed to be quite happy with looking at his face. Maybe she’d already caught a sneaking glance and was unimpressed by what she saw. He sighed, it was only fair that she got half naked too but she wasn’t, she seemed to be quite happy with sitting there in her clothes. Ryder sighed to himself as he reached for a hoody. He didn’t know how to make things more obvious, she was clearly blowing him off, although unfortunately for him, not literally. He pulled the green hoody over his head as he glanced around for some trousers. They were all inside, he didn’t want to make his redressing too obvious.
She began to talk about school and he listened patiently though his mind wasn’t as involved as he appeared to be. ”Well you’re not allowed to brand yourself as an individual in high school but you don’t have long left,” he said on the upside. He smiled as she described her friend, though it was a polite smile. ”Well that’s good.” he stated but then he suddenly started wondering, actually how old was this girl? He was twenty one, surely she wasn’t too young, he realised he hadn’t asked before. ”How old are you, Acacia?” Ryder asked her curiously as he took another swig from his bottle. He wished he could hurry up and get drunk, he should have probably been for a more natural high the way he went on but right now he didn’t care, he enjoyed her company but alcohol was always good for social situations. But as she mentioned her dead sister his attention changed, and he now felt more sympathetic. Ryder felt himself wrap his arms around her and hold her to his chest. ”That sounds pretty... well pretty bad really,” he admitted as he held her in his arms. He wanted to be someone who she could talk to, someone who she could see when she needed to cry. He felt like it was his duty to be that person and he wanted to be him, he wanted to be her saviour. ”Don’t be silly,” he said quietly as he stroked her dark hair. ”Of course you didn’t say too much... so you don’t talk to your parents?” Ryder asked as he pulled away slightly but still kept a hold of her hands. ”Do you feel like you can talk to me?” he asked curiously, ”Because I know I don’t really know you but I like you, you know that. I like you in more than a friends way too, I’m physically attracted to you,” Ryder grinned, feeling a tad bit embarrassed, ”And I don’t judge you... I’d like you to be yourself, if you can be?”

'Maybe you will, if you're lucky,' she said teasingly. She watched with a sideways glance as he grabbed a hoody. He'd obviously picked up on the fact that he wasn't about to get laid. Which was good, it would be way too fast, and way too soon. She couldn't help feeling a little disappointed that his chest had disappeared so fast.
She swallowed when he asked how old she was. Was he worried she was too young? 'Seventeen,' she said, curious as to why. 'What about you?' she asked, knowing full well that he was older, seeing as he had left school.
She smiled a little when he wrapped his arms around her. It was nice. She hadn't gotten much, or any, sympathy when Sienna died. Although she hadn't died that recently, it was nie to have it now. He felt sympathy knowing only half the truth, God only knew what he would do if he knew all of it. 'It's...' she sighed when she couldn't explain. He would probably run a mile if he really knew.
She smiled when he said his bit. She blushed a little more, her cheeks turning fushia. She nodded, whilst looking at the ground. She finally got up the nerve to look him in the eye. 'This is just very new to me,' she said honestly. 'I mean, I really like you, and I do feel like I can talk to you, despite not knowing you very long.' She thought about what he had said with a pause. 'I like you in more than a friends way too, but, that was my first kiss,' she said, feeling like she had to explain herself. Hopefully he would now understand why she hadn't seemed a little more keen to take the rest of his clothes off.

”Well you don’t have to be lucky to see me get wasted,” Ryder stated with a laugh as he took another swig. There was nothing wrong with drinking in his opinion, if you acted like an idiot then you could just say you were having fun and if it got a laugh then what was the harm?! ”You’d probably feel more relaxed if you had a drink,” he advised warmly. She seemed quite serious and a bit uptight and he was hoping she’d drop the barriers. It was always more fun when someone was comfortable and he wasn’t too sure that she was, he didn’t know how to make her feel any better. Maybe if he had his own couch or something she’d be comfy but he only had a made up bed ready. And anyway if she couldn’t be comfortable in the outdoors where could she be comfortable. Ryder sighed, maybe this was a bad idea. Maybe she just wasn’t an outdoor girl and maybe she was only here to be polite. ”Twenty one,” he said quietly in response. ”So you’re not legal huh,” Ryder mused.
Ryder looked up as she spoke to him, she seemed to be getting a little bit more relaxed but not that relaxed. She would probably get cold soon enough, she probably didn’t like the idea of being where she was and maybe he’d have to take her home. He reached to his side to grab another match as he lit it, and held it between his fingertips, examining it closely. He liked how the flames seemed to flicker against the dark sky, and although he was listening to her he was also listening to the soft licking of the amber in the wind. Until suddenly she admitted it was her first kiss. He turned around to look at her, almost automatically, frowning slightly. ”I’m sorry. If I’d have known I wouldn’t have kissed you,” he said back softly as he lay backwards, most people wanted their first kiss to be special, most people didn’t have their first kiss at seventeen, but either way he knew that her kissing him wouldn’t have been special. He wasn’t sure how he felt about having taken her first kiss, he didn’t really know much. He sighed heavily before he stood up and reached a hand out to her. ”I’m going for a swim. You’re welcome to join me.” he offered as he began to walk in the direction of a little forest.
It was a short walk to the lake, a one which Ryder had taken many times before. He liked this lake though, it was clean and was good for a wash when he didn’t want to waste water. He pulled his hoody off and threw it onto the ground, he wasn’t too bothered if Acacia was watching much. He felt a little bad that he hadn’t been that joyful in the last minute or so, but he’d taken her first kiss, it was a shocker. He dropped his boxers and kicked them to the side before taking into the lake. He let the water absorb him whole before he looked back into the darkness to see if his date for the evening had turned up. Maybe walking hand in hand with her would have been better. ”Hey, Aca!” Ryder yelled out.

She laughed at his laid back attitude. She might do later then. ‘I was just worried that you would think I’m your typical girl, you know, if I giggled a lot.’ Her logic made little sense. ‘Well, maybe another time,’ she said, hoping that maybe next time she would. She nodded when he said twenty-one. He looked about that. ‘Does it bother you?’ she asked, wondering if her age would be a problem.
She looked at her feet when he said that he wouldn’t have kissed her. ‘Oh,’ was all she said in a little voice. She wondered why not. ‘Well, I’m glad you kissed me,' she said honestly. Though at the time, sh had been worried, on reflection, she thought it had gone rather well. Until now that was. She was feeling like the evening had taken a turn for the worst, she really liked this guy, bu she had a feeling that she'd done something wrong. If she had, she hoped he would tell her.
She looked up at him when he stood, and reached for his hand when he said where he was going. Sure, that could be fun. If she had known she would have bought her bathing suit with, she supposed it didn't matter though. Even if she didn't go for a swim, she would like to see the lake.
She followed him through the darkness, only able to make out his outline. Until they reached the lake. She wasn't in the least bit surprised that he stripped off. She bit her lip when he headed straight for the water, unsure as to whether she should join him or not. After a couple of seconds debating, she decided. She wasn't about to sleep with him right here, right now, and stripping off may give him the wrong signals. But she did want to join him for some fun, and she could always set him straight if he thought otherwise.
With that she was undoing her jeans, and kicking them, and her sneakers off. When he called out to her, she was in the process of getting her t-shirt over her head. She wished she'd worn prettier underwear - plain black bra and knickers didn't exactly spell exciting. But, before she had thought about it too much more she whipped them both off, and with one smooth dive she had joined Ryder in the lake.
She broke the surface, her hair surrounding most of the water around her in a long black cloud. She looked at him, droplets of water hanging from her eyelashes. 'Hope you don't mind my joining you?' she asked a little playfully.

Ryder shook his head with a smile. ”Well, no, not really. I already know you’re far from typical,” he grinned at her softly, she didn’t remind him of a typical girl at all, typical girls wore short skirts and slept about a lot and even then they weren’t typical. ”Yeah, next time we can go for drinks.” he said with a nod of his head. A public setting would’ve probably been more appropriate, not like a tent. He realised now that it was a mistake but then again maybe if now she saw how beautiful everything was she would change her lifestyle. That wouldn’t be a mistake. He sighed, one of his flaws was being too judgemental of the ways others live. He was accepting but highly critical about it. ”Maybe I should play some music... but I don’t have any electricity or a music player,” he mused but if he lived in a house playing music would probably be a pretty good idea about now. ”Does it bother me?” he repeated her question thoughtfully, his head tilted to the side for a moment as he looked up at the sky. ”Naw, well not really, not unless I get accused of rape or something from your dad,” Ryder stated with a roll of his eyes. He would have preferred it if she was nineteen, or maybe even eighteen. It seemed like there was a massive gap from him being seventeen and him being twenty one. For one, he didn’t know much about what he was doing back then, and two he was still a virgin.
”I’m not the type of guy you should have your first kiss with really,” Ryder admitted. ”I mean I’m more the guy you decide you should be with later because I’m not an asshole. You’re supposed to be rebellious and play with the assholes first,” he teased smartly, ”Well actually who knows, maybe I am a bit of an asshole.” he added as an afterthought. Maybe, who knew. He did try to be a good person but everyone messed up, only Ryder’s mistakes seemed to put more weight on his shoulders than others.
Ryder watched her as she stripped, he’d expected her to run away so he was happily surprised when she joined him. Ryder smirked, ”I’d meant to invite you.” he replied as he moved closer to her, embracing her natural form as he kissed her passionately. ”I’ll figure out how to make a fire soon enough, I have some matches so I guess that’ll work with a few sticks,” he explained, ”So you can get warm... do you have a time to get home?”

She smiled, she liked it that he knew she wasn't like the rest.
'It's alright,' she said when he said about music. 'If you want, there is an old guitar in my attic that you can have,' she offered. She and her sisters had had many an attempt at trying to play it over the years, but they were all useless. He might be better - it save dit from collecting dust up there too.
She got the impression that it did bother him. 'I'm eighteen soon, if that changes it at all,' she said, hoping that would ease his mind a little. She shrugged, 'I doubt my Dad would even realise,' she said. Unless things were blindingly obvious, her Dad didn't notice. Her mother wasn't much better.
'I don't think your an asshole,' she said simply. 'And as for other assholes, there have been opportunities to be with an asshole, but I decided against them,' she said thinking back.
She swept back her hair with her hands, and shook her head, to spray some of the water away. It was a little cold at first, but she was warming up quite well now. She wrapped her arms around his waist, and let him pull her close. She kissed him back with just as much passion, and when he pulled away, she nuzzled into his neck slightly. She thought about it for a moment, and placed a little kiss at the base of his ear. 'Well, seeing as I don't have school tomorrow, and my parents don't mind, I guess I'm yours until you want me to leave,' she said quite happily. She wasn't sure when he would want her to go, but it was a good thing it was a weekend, otherwise she may have trouble getting up in the morning. She wasn't very awake, after too many late nights.

Ryder shook his head. She must have thought of him as more talented than he actually was. Ryder didn’t know how to play guitar, he didn’t know how to read music or anything like that. Music wasn’t so big in his life. There was some songs which he felt he connected to but he didn’t spend all day long listening to them. ”It’s okay,” Ryder said softly in refusal of her offer, ”I can’t play guitar... that and I don’t accept charity,” He didn’t mean to be rude or anything if she thought he was being rude but it was true. He had money, he didn’t need hand me downs from people. His college had tried to give him a laptop too but Ryder had refused.
Ryder shrugged but he did feel a little better that she was older soon. It made him feel less perverted, yet at the same time he was also getting older. She looked old for her age though, she didn’t look like a kid that some seventeen year olds were. ”I’m not very good at making good impressions with parents. My ex was a bit like me and her parents hated that so naturally they hated me. Her dad ended up banning me from the house and that was when we moved in together,” But he suddenly stopped himself. One rule was do not talk about exes in front of new people, they didn’t like it and it just showed how serious he and this girl was. He wasn’t about to mention the abortion now, maybe never but maybe if it was to stop her from ever having one one day it would be worth it. If Ryder ever got a girl pregnant again he wasn’t going to let his unborn child be murdered.
”Ooh, I expect you’ll be starting in some rebellion soon enough. Everyone does.” Ryder teased as he thought back to his childhood years. He was a pretty good teenager, he wasn’t really crazy or out drinking or anything. ”Maybe this is my rebellion,” and maybe it was. After all it wasn’t every day your youngest son moved into a tent.
Ryder was shocked at how open she was being with him. She was naked so he’d expected she would avoid physical contact with him and hide in the darkness of the water but she seemed to be comfortable with her body in the moonlight, and comfortable with his. For a girl who’d only just had her first kiss he was shocked. ”You just kissed my ear,” Ryder said with a gentle laugh. He was glad she was okay with him now though, more open up to him. ”I’m surprised you’re in here with me if I’m honest. I’m glad you... do you want me?” he asked her outright. Her signals were just confusing.
